Douglas C. Friedrichsen

NORFOLK--Services for Douglas C. Friedrichsen, 74, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Northern Heights Baptist Church in Norfolk with burial in Hillcrest Memoral Park Cemetery. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 16 and VFW Post 1644 and the United States Air Force Honors Guard. The Rev. Matthew Gilmore will officiate with worship leader Mark Bejot. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. He died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Alegent Health in Plainview. He was born May 1, 1939, at Bloomfield to Claus and Luella (Zorn) Friedrichsen. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1957. He married June Bonson June 12, 1965, at Bedford, England. June passed away Aug. 12, 1995. After marriage, they came to the United States. They moved to Hadar in 1972. Doug worked at Norco Feeds and Great Dane Trailers at Wayne. He was a painter and worked in fabrication. He retired in 2006. He was involved with the tractor parades and enjoyed watching his grandkids' involvement in their activities. He enjoyed watching the Cubs and Twins baseball. He was a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church, Norfolk, member of Bloomfield American Legion, Bloomfield, and past member of Hadar Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include daughter Kelly and husband Dwayne Asmus of Hoskins; son Troy and wife Anny Friedrichsen of Pierce; four grandchildren, Casey, Samantha, Cody and Tara; four brothers, Chasely and wife Marie Friedrichsen of Sagamore, Mass., Millard Friedrichsen of Pierce, Morris and wife Vonnie Friedrichsen of Muscatine, Iowa, Paul and wife Marcia Friedrichsen of Aurora. He was preceded in death by parents Claus and Luella; two brothers, Kenneth and Eldon; one sister, Chrystal Glinsmann. Music will be by keyboardist Eileen Damme, soloist Julie Daniel with "Old Rugged Cross" and congregational hymns "Nearer Still Nearer" and "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers will be Casey Asmus, Cody Asmus, Derek Friedrichsen, Darren Friedrichsen, Gary Schuett, Guy Polenske. Honorary casket bearers will be Samantha Asmus, Tara Friedrichsen, Larry Polenske, Joe Heydon, Kendra Snyder, Kelsey Friedrichsen.
