Esther Helena Korth

ST PAUL -- Esther H Korth, 102 of St. Paul died. Tuesday August 14, 2012 at Heritage Living Center, St. Paul,NE. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Scotia NE at10:00 a.m. Monday with burial in Prospect View Cemeteryat Pierce at a graveside service at3 p.m.on Monday. Visitation will be Sunday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce from 5:00-7:00 p.m.Â The Rev Mark Middendorf will officiate. She was born December 6, 1909 in rural Lindsay, Nebraska to John and Helena (Weyen) Koeppe; the seventh of eleven children. She was baptized January 16, 1909 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed April 13, 1924. As a young child her family moved to a farm close to Pierce where Esther grew up. She was married to Elmer Korth September 16, 1926 at the Zion Luthran Church in Pierce, NE with the Reverend M. F. Scheips performing the ceremony. After a honeymoon to the Black Hills, they made their home at the Korth farm near Pierce; where Elmer was born and raised. To this union three children were born: Willard William, Jane Marion and Robert John. They farmed on the family farm until they retired and moved to Pierce. After Elmer passed away in 1997, Esther moved to Greeley, Nebraska to be closer to her son Robert. Due to failing health, Esther moved to Heritage Living Center in St. Paul, NE in 2011. Esther was an amazing seamstress and quilter. She always enjoyed a large vegetable and flower garden. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. During their retirement, Elmer and Esther enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveled to almost every state. Esther was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and also the Ladies Aid. Survivors are her children Robert John Korth of Greeley, Nebraska; Jane Marion Brown of Naperville, Illinois; Daughter In law: Joyce Korth of Pittsburg, PA; 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 30 great great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren, Special Nephews Wesley and wife Lavine Koeppe of Pierce, NE; Gary and wife Lois Koeppe of Hadar, NE; Special niece Darlene Lackas of Magnet, NE; one sister inlaw Mrs. Louie Koeppe, Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Helena Koeppe, husband Elmer Korth, son Willard Korth, son-in-law Robert Brown, daughter in-law Beth Korth, one grandchild Tucker Korth, nine brothers and one sister. Congregational hymns will be "Be Not Afraid" "How Great Thou Art." Casket Bearers will be Jim Korth, Jan Korth, Jamie Korth, Jerry Powers, Michael Korth, Patrick Powers. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Gary Koeppe, Wesley Koeppe, Darlene Lackas, Joyce Korth, Mary Haschke, Mary Scott.
