Gloria J. Vogel

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Gloria J. Vogel, 90, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Mike Moreno will be officiating the service. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Gloria passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the Faith Health Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Gloria Jean Vogel was born at Pilger, Nebraska on June 17, 1935 to Delbert and LaVanda (Broekemeier) Schulz. She was baptized on July 14, 1935 by Rev. W. E Harms and confirmed on June 5, 1943 by Rev. R. Hildebrandt at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. She attended District #14 in Stanton County through the 8th grade, attended Pilger High School for three years and then graduated from Wisner High School in 1953. She married Robert Lee Vogel on October 11, 1953 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE by Rev. R. Hildebrandt. They celebrated 72 years together. After high school graduation she taught rural school one year at District #70, Cuming County and was then employed as a secretary for News Printing Company, The Norfolk Daily News; Dale Electronics and the City of Norfolk during her forty-year secretarial career in Norfolk. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Lutherans for Life, past member of Ladies Circle and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Gloria cherished her faith and her family and treasured attending all their functions and activities. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for them. She had a great love for music, playing the keyboard and especially dancing. She also enjoyed traveling having been to 49 states and all the Canadian providences as she cherished all of God's creation. Left to cherish her memory include her two sons, J.D. (Rhonda) Vogel, Norfolk, NE and Lee Alan (Terry) Vogel, Gainesville TX and two daughters, Sheri Ann (Nolan) Heilman, Holstein, IA and Lori Beth (Doug) Retzlaff, Norfolk NE., ten grandchildren, Ryan Wagner, Stilwell, OK, Josh (Michelle) Vogel, Gretna, Aaron (Michelle) Wagner, Ida Grove, IA, Timber (Dustin Stralow) Lacy, Olathe, KS, Jessica (Justin) Siebrandt, Norfolk, Aley (Ryan) Cristelli, Oklahoma City, OK, Marshall Vogel, Lincoln, Matt and (Megan) Retzlaff, Norfolk, Justin (Laura Vogel, Norfolk, and Jeremy and (Katie) Vogel, Elkhorn, NE, Nineteen great grandchildren, Tanna, Wynn, Aubrey, Rees and Paisley Wagner; Graham, Evelyn (Evie), Lainey, Murphy, Kyler and Quinn Vogel; Bella, McCoy and Briar Siebrandt; Lennon Lacy; Wacey and Bryndl Retzlaff; Alex and Andrew Jochum, two brothers Robert and Ruby Schulz and Michael and Lynell Schulz of Norfolk, sister-in-law, JoAnn Malchow, Laurel. Five step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Several loved ones preceded her in death, husband, Robert, father and mother, Delbert and LaVanda, a granddaughter, Taylor Vogel, great grandchildren, Clancy Wagner and Baby Retzlaff; grandparents Fred and Helen (Beerbohm) Broekemeier and Julius and Gesine (Schwarting) Schulz, In-laws, Herman (Shorty) and Frieda (Willers) Vogel, brothers and sister in-laws Lester and Betty Vogel and Willard Malchow.
