NORFOLK – Funeral service for Janette M. Mills, 77, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Caleb Wehling will be officiating the service. Private family burial will be held at a later date at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, also at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The family asks that those attending please wear casual attire or blue clothing. Janette passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Janette was born on September 23, 1948 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Loren and Rose (Koval) Luebe. She was baptized on September 24, 1948 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk and had her first communion on May 13, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce. She was later confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She attended grade school at the St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Pierce and graduated from Pierce High School in 1966. Janette married Wayne O. Mills on July 1, 1966 in Madison. She worked at the Corner Bar and Café in Pierce, where she met the love of her life, Pierce Senior Center, Dale’s Electronics, and Sherwood Medical in Norfolk. She enjoyed baking, making sugar cookies, and going to casinos. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joys. Janette is survived by her children Gina Glaser of Norfolk, Steve (LuAnn) Mills of Neligh, Bruce Mills (Erin Knight) of Norfolk, Ann (Trent) Spulak of Plainview, grandchildren Jerrett (Katarina) Mills of Norfolk, Hailey (Andrew) Hahn of Norfolk, Hannah (Colby) Clarkson of Norfolk, Alexus Glaser of Norfolk, Collin Glaser (Frankie Hansen) of Norfolk, Kyle Glaser (Sarai Mendoza) of Norfolk, Colt Spulak of Plainview, Cannon Spulak of Plainview, Matthew Svoboda (Keanna Synovec) of Norfolk, Chelse Svoboda (Matt Colter) of St. Charles, MO, Haley Svoboda (Daniel Dominguez) of Norfolk, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Pat (Lyle) Raff of Lincoln, Angela Tomasek of Plattsmouth, NE, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Mills, parents Loren and Rose Luebe, sister Margaret Leathers, and brother Thomas Luebe. Casket bearers will be Jerrett Mills, Collin Glaser, Kyle Glaser, Colt Spulak, Cannon Spulak, and Matthew Svoboda.
