Janice E. Froehlich

NORFOLK – Funeral service for Janice E. (Clark) Froehlich, 97 of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Rev. Ray Wilke and Pastor Chris Asbury. Private family burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, also at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Janice went to be with her Lord on December 10, surrounded by all her children at the Homestead in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Janice Elaine Froehlich, daughter of Fred and Lena (Holbrook) Clark, was born November 14, 1928, in Page, NE. She was baptized in the Methodist Church. She graduated in 1946 from Norfolk Sr. High. She attended Junior College in 1947-1948 with a Secretary Degree. She was the secretary for the Superintendent for Norfolk Public Schools. Janice continued her education at Wayne State College for her Teaching Degree until May 1949. She began her teaching career at Howells, NE in fifth and sixth grade. Janice also taught 1st grade in Hastings. She married Virgil L. Froehlich on September 3, 1950, at the United Methodist church in Norfolk. They made their home in Norfolk. Virgil and Janice had seven children together. Family was the utmost importance to Janice. She made raising her children a priority. Life for her was even better when her grandchildren came along. She made friends easily, instilled hard work in her children, and taught them the importance of being kind to everyone. She kept busy with the household chores and enjoyed baking her specialties, which included homemade bread and cutout sugar cookies. She was a piano player and loved music. Janice enjoyed years of square dancing with the Single Wheelers and 49ers. Janice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Janice moved into the Homestead at the age of 90, and she enjoyed the luxuries at the Homestead and their wonderful staff. Janice is survived by her children Rick (Lynette) Froehlich of Greenville, S.C., Jean (Jim) Hopkins, Clark (Paula Pflueger) Froehlich, of Norfolk, Monte (Lisa) Froehlich of Lincoln, Sue Froehlich, Sally (Kent) McCallum also of Norfolk , 14 grandchildren, Steve (Sarah) and Aaron (Mandy) Froehlich, Josh (Jenny) and Nate (Jessi) Hopkins, Carly (Matt) Ulrich, Chase (Elizabeth) Froehlich, Adam (Claire) and Jared (Sarah) Froehlich, Summer (Colin) Nabity, Jasmine (Keenan) McCurdy, Cole (Ashley) and Lane (Mary) McCallum, Morgan Ernesti and Jade (Chase) Bassett, 37 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, a sister, Sharon Lyons of NY, sister-in-law, Terri Clark of FL and many extended family and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her son, Guy Matthew, daughter-in-law, Cindy Froehlich, her brother, Fred Clark, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Grace Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska chapter.
