NORFOLK – Visitation for Jerry R. Evert, 72, of Norfolk, NE will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Jerry passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 outside of Pierce, NE. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Jerry R. Evert, a man of profound character, tireless work effort, and a heart as big as the great outdoors. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Born on October 7, 1953 in Columbus, NE, Jerry was the youngest of 12 children, born to Rudy and Verna Evert. In 1982 Jerry moved to Norfolk, Nebraska to carve out his own path. It was here he built his foundation, purchasing the home where he would eventually raise his family and create a lifetime of memories. Jerry had a rare gift-the ability to impact the life of every person he met whether through a word of advice, a helping hand, or his infectious spirit. He made people feel seen and valued. Jerry was a natural born leader and a dedicated entrepreneur. Shortly after moving to Norfolk, he founded Rite-Way, a business that stood as a testament to his vision, perseverance, and commitment to the principle that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing the Rite-Way. Through his professional success he wasn’t just a business man, but a mentor and a pillar of his local community, known for his integrity and “handshake” reliability. When he wasn’t working, Jerry found his peace in the outdoors and in his garage. Jerry had many passions, some that brought him the most joy were trout fishing, hunting squirrels in the backyard, target shooting, his fruit trees, garden, his yard, baking his infamous red cakes, and the adventures with his wife that took them to 49 of 50 states as well as Canada, Italy, and Mexico. Jerry married his beloved wife of 28 years Cindy Evert on February 6, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerry’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Cindy and his four children who carry on his legacy; Jeremy and Misty Evert, Sarah Jo and Nate Stolp; Kendra Janousek; Bret and Shannon Evert. As well as his three deeply loved grandchildren; Caydence Janousek, Rylan Stolp and Jack Evert. He also leaves behind his 6 remaining siblings, extended family and lifelong friends who will miss his presence daily. He never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t spoken to yet.
