Judith "Judy" E. Anderson

NORFOLK – Memorial services for Judith “Judy” E. Anderson, 77, of Norfolk, NE will be held on Saturday, December 21st, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk, NE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk at a later date. Judy passed away with her husband at her side on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Judith Elaine Anderson passed away at Heritage of Bel Air nursing home on December 4, 2024, with her husband by her side. Judy was born January 29, 1947, the 3rd of 6 children born to Harold and Doris Shaffer in Gregory South Dakota. She attended all her school years in Gregory and enjoyed spending time in the 4-H Club and being a drummer in the High School Marching Band. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Springfield College in Springfield South Dakota before following Gaylard, the love of her life, to Norfolk Nebraska. They married on June 11, 1967, and welcomed the 1st of their children, Anthony, while living in Norfolk. The family moved to Manhattan Kansas 5 years later so that Gayal could attend Kansas State University and welcomed their 2nd child Jamie to the family. They decided to move back to Norfolk 5 years after that and their 3rd child, Jennifer, was born. At that point Judy joked to Gayal that they were not moving again because every time they moved, they seemed to have another child. They were lifelong Norfolk residents from that point on and they loved their community. Judy kept busy raising their 3 children full time, along with 3 foreign exchange students and over 40 foster children over the years. She poured herself into making her house a loving home for every child that entered it. She enjoyed being a part of the PTA and spending time with her Bible Study groups through the years. After raising her children, she enjoyed many different jobs in the area, with Target being one of her most favorite. She loved doing pretty much anything that was asked of her at Target, including hanging signs from the ceilings, even though she was afraid of heights. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Her whole family looked forward to going to Grandma Judy’s house for the Fourth of July where she and Gayal would have plenty of homemade ice cream ready to enjoy after the fireworks. Her true gift was generosity, and it brought her much joy to find a child at a store and hand them a little money so that they could buy that toy that they were gazing at. Judy is survived by her husband of 57 years Gayal Anderson, son Anthony (Tracy) Anderson and daughter Jamie (Jim) Wichman, all of Norfolk, bonus daughter Brandi Wagner of Pine Haven Wyoming, brothers Gaile Shaffer of Omaha, Bruce (Alice) Shaffer of Gregory, Les (Sherri) Shaffer of Gregory, Sister Mavis Leiferman of Gregory, Brother in-laws Joe (Val) Anderson of Mills Nebraska, Randy (Sue) Anderson of Colorado Springs and Tim (Denise) Anderson of Twin Valley Minnesota and sister-in-law Vivian Shaffer of Yankton South Dakota. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Doris Shaffer, her parent-in-laws Donald and Esther Anderson, daughter Jennifer Anderson, grandson Nicholas Kroeger, brother Hal Shaffer, sister-in-law Lennie Anderson and great grandson Zayden Wichman. Her greatest love in life were her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. Judy’s family is forever grateful to the entire staff of Heritage of Bel Air for their compassionate care in her final days.
