Margie M. Nelson

NORFOLK -- Margie M. Nelson, 86, of Norfolk died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Stanton Nursing Home.\r\n\r\nServices will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel at Norfolk with burial in Elmwood Cemetery at Carroll and the Rev. Leon Rosenthal officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday. She was born April 13, 1926, at rural Osmond to Charles and Mary (Pochop) Kudera and attended Osmond Public Schools District 79 to the eighth grade. She married Harold Nelson Aug. 12, 1944, at Omaha. Harold passed away January of 1968. After marriage, she lived at Osmond with her parents until her husband was out of the military. They moved to Carroll in 1946. Harold worked as a mechanic, and Margie was a housewife. She was a member of United Methodist Church at Carroll and Legion Auxiliary of Carroll. She worked as a janitor for the Methodist church for five years and worked as a nurse's aide at Dahl Nursing Home at Wayne. Margie married Harold Woodall, and they moved to Arlington in 1978 where they raised wild and tame birds. Margie moved to Norfolk in July of 1988. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Norfolk, VFW Auxiliary of Norfolk and Norfolk Senior Center. Margie enjoyed playing cards at the Norfolk Senior Center as well as listening and dancing to polka music. She was active with her children and grandchildren. She had been a resident of the Stanton Health Center since September 2008. Survivors include three sons, Emil and wife Carolyn Nelson of Norfolk, Donald and wife Donna Nelson of Winside, Terry and wife Phyllis Nelson of Winside; three daughters, Edith and husband Larry Jensen of Norfolk, Debra and husband Darrell Hank of Carroll, Tammy and husband Wyatt Drucker of Omaha; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister Libby Kumm of Bloomfield; sisters-in-law Bernice Kudera, Betty Kudera, Kathy Kudera, all of Plainview, Anna Sunderland, Evelyn Parks of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Mary Kudera; husband Harold Nelson; great-granddaughter Brooklyn Wells; brothers Leonard Kudera, Stanley Kudera, Raymond Kudera and Daune Kudera; brothers-in-law Leonard Kumm, Willard Nelson; sisters-in-law Alice Kudera, Alice Dystra, Leona Cash. Music will be by organist Starla Landkamer with congregational hymns "In the Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers will be David Jensen, Dustin Wells, Donald J. Nelson, Dustin Nelson, Wyatt Drucker, Jason King.
