NORFOLK – Funeral services for Paul A. Gohring will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Pastor Caitlin Bentzinger will be officiating the services. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Paul passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his residence in Norfolk. Paul was born on September 20, 1960, to LaVerne and Doris (Smith) Gohring in Milbank, SD. The family moved to Norfolk where Paul attended grade school and high school. After receiving his GED, he attended trade school at a junior college in Grand Island, NE. On June 14, 1980, Paul married Kelly Moeller at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. The couple later divorced but remained close friends. On March 17, 1997, he married Patti Fauss (Pilger) in Las Vegas, NV. Paul was a proud father of Nikki, Justin and Chris. After receiving his associate’s degree, Paul worked at Kinning and Reil in Norfolk and Gillette, WY. He later moved to Denver, CO and worked at Helm Heating and Air Conditioning for ten years before returning to Nebraska where he worked as a journeyman and estimator at Volkman Plumbing and Heating in Norfolk until his retirement in November 2025. For 18 years, Paul was an owner of the Harbor Bar in Norfolk where his role was primarily customer relations (i.e. drinking, therapizing, and b.s.ing) and maintenance. Paul was a true fixer in every sense of the word. Incredibly handy and endlessly resourceful, there was very little he couldn’t fix with his hands, his patience, and his know-how. He was beyond generous, sharing these skills with the people he cared about. He loved to socialize and had a rare gift for making new friends wherever he went. To know Paul was to love him, and time spent with him was always filled with laughter. His quick wit and great sense of humor kept those around him smiling and made even ordinary moments memorable. He was a talented cook who enjoyed sharing good food with family and friends. Paul had a love for NASCAR, especially attending races and camping on the infield, where he embraced the excitement and camaraderie of race weekends. Music was another passion—he especially loved 70s and 80s rock, though he was never shy about singing along to the Backstreet Boys when it played on the jukebox. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and spending time camping, particularly when it came to starting and tending the bonfire, a place where stories were shared and memories were made. However, it was very important that nobody touch his fire stick. A proud father and grandfather, Paul cherished his family deeply. He had an equally big heart for his beloved dogs, who brought him constant joy and companionship. Known for his remarkable memory, Paul delighted in recalling stories and moments that kept loved ones laughing and connected. Paul’s warmth, humor, and love of life will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Paul is survived by his wife Patti Gohring of Norfolk, children Nikki Gohring of Lincoln and her daughter Waverly; Chris (Kati) Gohring of Tilden and their children Paisley, Ryker, Hendrix, Riggins, Dempsey, and Oakley; Justin (Brooklyn) Fauss of Norfolk and their son Winston. Siblings Linda (Gene) Barg of Winside, Gail (Ricky) Wood of Lincoln, Rick (Charlotte) Gohring of Norfolk, Mim Gaines (Rick Liley) of Stockville. He is reunited in death with his parents, LaVerne and Doris, his brother-in-law Doug Gaines, and several beloved friends.
