Robert "Rob" A. Jones Jr.

NORFOLK – Memorial service for Robert Allen “Rob” Jones, Jr., 64, of Lomita, California, will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Burial will be held at a later date at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be held by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, American Legion Riders, and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Rob passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026 at his residence in Torrance, CA. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Rob was born on May 31, 1961, in Osmond, Nebraska, to Robert and Beverly (Moore) Jones Sr. He attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1979. Following graduation, Rob attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He then enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1984. He worked as a Computer Programmer for the Military Airlift Command at Clark Air Base. Later, he supported the Space Shuttle Program at Edwards Air Force Base. While serving, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Following his service, Rob built a successful forty-year career. In 1984, he founded Overbyte Computers. As an industry trailblazer, the company pioneered the technology reseller model to modernize government infrastructure. The nation's top federal contractors still use that foundational business model 40 years later. His ability to absorb information, master new concepts, and navigate complex environments enabled him to excel. He later served as Government Sales Manager for OXARC, Public Sector Sales Executive for Praxair, and Principal of Jones and Jones, Inc. Rob possessed a quick wit, tremendous charisma, and a deep Christian faith. He placed his absolute trust in Jesus Christ. He was also a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lomita, California, where he served as a lector early on. He had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went, and to him, nobody was a stranger. Rob left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Rob was an avid supporter of Nebraska Cornhusker football and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. He enjoyed staying connected with family and friends. He took great pride in following the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Those grateful for having shared his life include his sons, Austin Jones of Carson, California; Shane (Angelica) Jones of Bentonville, Arkansas; Logan Jones and fiancée, Marina Teague, of Torrance, California; and Cash Jones of Minot, North Dakota; his granddaughters, Julia Jones and Dylan Jones; the mothers of his children, Leila Jones and Roxanne Jones; his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Bill Lauver of Battle Creek, Nebraska; his sister, Cheri (John) Auletta of Plano, Texas; his brother, Troy (Maggi) Jones of Norfolk, Nebraska; seven nieces and nephews.
