Sharon K. Prauner

BATTLE CREEK – Funeral service for Sharon K. Prauner, 85, of Battle Creek, will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Interment will follow at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Creek. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Sharon passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Sharon was born on January 8, 1940 in Madison, NE to Julius and Bernice (Berg) Plugge. She attended and graduated from Madison High School in 1958. After high school Sharon met and married the love of her life Orville Prauner on April 17, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Madison on Easter Sunday. They farmed south of Battle Creek for 40 years. They moved to Battle Creek in 1999, after retiring from farming. Sharon helped work on the farm but also worked part time at Red Bud True Value Hardware store in Battle Creek for over 30 years. She also cooked in the kitchen at Battle Creek Public Schools for several years. Sharon was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was involved in the choir and Ladies’ Aide. Sharon loved to golf, collect angels, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Her and Orville were also part of card clubs for many years. Sharon is survived by her 2 sons, Roger (Tammy) Prauner of Battle Creek and Ronald Prauner MD of Franklin, TN, 3 grandsons, Dane (Tresa) Prauner of Meadow Grove, Brandon (Samantha) Prauner of Florence, South Carolina, and Tyler (Alycia) Prauner of Norfolk, 4 great grandsons, Barrett Prauner, Kowen Prauner, Spencer Prauner, Huxley Prauner, step-great-granddaughter, Alexis Brahmer, sister Janice (Larry) Prauner of Battle Creek, and sister-in-law Sharon Plugge of Norfolk. She is preceded in death by her husband Orville on Aug. 24, 2017, her parents, Julius and Bernice, her older brother Otis Plugge and younger brother David Plugge, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Delores Zessin.
