Winell A. Suckstorf

PIERCE — Services for Winell A. Suckstorf, 89, Pierce, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. The Rev. Gordon Bruce and Joshua Mork will officiate. Burial will be at the Lambrecht Cemetery in rural Pierce. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the church. She died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of the arrangements. Winell Audrey (Buss) Suckstorf was born west of Pierce on April 27, 1929, to Albert and Louise (Kuhl) Buss. She was baptized on May 26, 1929, and confirmed March 29, 1942, by the Rev. M.F. Scheips. She attended school districts 40 and 8 and Zion Parochial School at Pierce and graduated from Pierce High School in 1946. She and Clarence Suckstorf were married on Feb. 26, 1950, by the Rev. Steging at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. They farmed west of Pierce. They were blessed by three children, Marlene, Douglas and Gary. Winell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its ladies aid, for which she held many offices. She was a 4-H leader, served on the election board and as an officer of Lambrecht Cemetery Association many years. She enjoyed holidays with her family, baking, sewing, flowers and garden produce that she entered at the Pierce County Fair. Winell was a farm spouse and lived on the farm until 1988 when they moved to Pierce. She was available to babysit for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her family, friends, neighbors and loved her flowers and decorating for Christmas. In 2018, Winell and her best friend, Agnes Herian, were honored with Pierce County Fair Outstanding Individual Award. Survivors include her children, Marlene (Chuck) Moritz of Sutton, Douglas and friend Vickie Prince of Pierce and Gary (Sandy) Suckstorf of Pierce; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leola Krehnke of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Louise; her spouse, Clarence, who died Oct. 17, 2005; a brother, Melvin Buss; her sisters, Leota Pittack and Delilah Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Ardie Buss and Rosemary Suckstorf; and her brothers-in-law, Martin Suckstorf, Marvin Pittack, Helmuth Krehnke and Elmer Johnson. Organist will be Dottie Ahlers and a recorded hymn duet will be by Winell’s grandsons, Jason and Scott Moritz, “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns will be “I’m But A Stranger Here” and “My Course Is Run.” Casket bearers will be Jason Moritz, Jeremy Suckstorf, Darin Suckstorf, Scott Moritz, Tiffany Ronnefeldt, Amy Suckstorf and Brett Suckstorf. Honorary casket bearers will be Amanda Moritz, Laci Moritz, Bambi Suckstorf, Stephanie Suckstorf, Erin Suckstorf, Jeff Ronnefeldt and Andy Warneke.
